It is the first time Clarke will play in the state league, as she looks to build on what she has already achieved starting with her debut in the hoops on Saturday.
Storm football manager David Nicholson said it was a great reward for the effort Clarke and her family have put in over the years.
“She has put in, she is really keen about football and has always taken it seriously,” he said.
“Because she is a taller girl, and she has such good composure, it is not a surprise to see her get to this level.
“Even when she first came in, she would grab the ball, have a look around and was able to assess the situation before disposing it and when people come along with the skills and composure she has, it is pretty special.”
The 17-year-old started her career at the Storm and has moved up the ranks, being selected in the AFL Women’s academy for the past two years.
“I think she is becoming more solid since joining the academy, physically stronger and more aware of different things in game,” Nicholson said.
“When she started playing with us, I don’t think she had a lot of football experience, but you can see the way she plays now and the advice she has been given along the way and it is showing.”
After two seasons with the Storm, Clarke decided to move on this season to focus on playing in the state league.
Nicholson said the whole club is proud of what she has achieved so far.
“The Storm football club wish her all the best and are all really proud of what she achieved so far and look forward to following her career,” he said.
The Cats will play Carlton’s VFLW team in a curtain-raiser to the AFL game between the two teams in Geelong.
The round four match will start at 4.30pm.
