Travelling to Garfield, the MCDFL went goalless in the first term to trail by 20 points at the first break of the interleague clash.
Maryborough Castlemaine District kicked two majors in the second term but were unable to cut the lead to less than 20 points by the main break.
Four goals to two in the third term gave West Gippsland a comfortable 34-point lead going into the final term.
The game was too far out of reach for the Lions as West Gippsland continued to build the lead and go on to record an 11.18 (84) to 5.10 (40) victory.
Royal Park’s Jay Anderson was best on ground for the Maryborough Castlemaine side while Navarre’s Darcy Bibby was named among the best on ground for the Lions.
Bibby has dominated at club level and now representative level since joining Navarre from the Victorian Amateur Football Association in the most recent off-season.
Navarre’s Josh Fowkes and Aaron Slorach were also part of the Maryborough Castlemaine side.
Maryborough Castlemaine had no better luck in the under-18 match, going down by 72 points.
