The 19-year-old man was hiking on the Pinnacle track when he wandered off the trail at 4.30pm.
He became lost and slid down a gully. The man could not rescue himself due to the wet and slippery conditions.

The police, SES and Ambulance Victoria were called to the scene at 7.30pm.
Sergeant Bain said they performed a steep angle rescue to get the man to safety.
