Local artist Kyle Toney is creating a courtyard mural dedicated to the Victorian goldfields era for the Royal Hotel St Arnaud, along with an interactive image of Carlton Draught’s vintage image of ‘I allus has wan at 11’.  

“He has a hell of a lot of talent and is a real asset to the town,” Royal Hotel St Arnaud owner’s partner Vicky Christopoulos said. 

“Kyle has created portraits for the Hotel before. We also had a blank wall in the courtyard. We’ve also seen people passing through St Arnaud for the art silo trail and thought why not bring people to us,” which is how Mr Toney became involved in the art mural project at Royal Hotel. 

The art silo trail goes for 200 km through the Wimmera/Mallee region. Street artists from Australia and internationally have transformed silos in five different towns to giant pieces of art. 

“We feel it is a perfect little add on to the beautiful silo art in the Wimmera,” Ms Christopoulos said. 

Mr Toney started the mural a fortnight a go.

His work on the mural has “generated quite a substantial amount of interest since he commenced his work,” Ms Christopoulos said. 

“He works on it a couple of hours a week, after he finishes his day job. It’s not completed yet, but it will be in approximately two to four weeks.” 

“We are absolutely privileged to have such a talented artist showcasing his work in our small community and pub,” Ms Christopoulos said.

“It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our local young artist.”
