Orr held a six-shot lead over mother Lyn Willcock going into the final round of the championships, but a round of 84 – the best of the day – saw Willcock draw level with Orr on 264 each and force a three-hole playoff.
“At the end of the third round we counted and it looked like I won, but after a recount it turned out Jo and I were level,” Willcock said.
A double-bogey on the first playoff hole put Willcock in a position she could not recover from, with Orr shooting par on every hole to win her sixth championships.
“Jo is a very strong hitter so I was always going to be up against it going head to head from her,” Willcock said.
Willcock said the final round was “full of nerves and excitement”.
“I think it is the first time a mother and daughter have had to playoff for the ladies championships at Stawell which is special,” she said.
“Even though I lost I was chuffed to play some good golf and for Jo to end up winning.”
Willcock did not leave empty handed, taking out the A Grade handicap title with a score of 217.
Rosemary Perry won the B Grade scratch championships with Jane Delley winning the C Grade scratch title.
Judy Clayton and Muriel Hart were the respective B and C Grade handicap winners.
