Sergeant Bill Alford of St Arnaud said he had received three reports from three different St Arnaud residents, who say Victoria Police called them and asked for personal details.
Sergeant Alford said all three reports were made within seven days.
“Victoria Police simply don’t just call you directly,” he said.
Sergeant Alford said the alleged scammers asked for personal details such as pin numbers and bank details.
Sergeant Alford said the scammers also asked for security numbers they claim Victoria Police needs to complete a survey.
“It’s complete bogus. If Victoria Police were going to conduct a survey they would send it out in written request or announce it in a public meeting,” he said.
“They don’t ring over the phone.
“If anyone in St Arnaud or surrounding receive a call like this they aren’t from Victoria Police.”
Sergeant Alford said anyone else who receives a call similar to this or has any other information to report to the St Arnaud Police on 5495 1000.
