The A Grade Grasshoppers recorded their second win of the season, beating Royal Park 49-36 on Saturday.

“I was really pleased with the efforts of the girls,” Navarre coach Krystal Browne said.

“We stepped up to play out the whole four quarters which was fantastic.”

The win sees the Hoppers climb to 10^th on the ladder heading into the interleague break. Browne said two back-to-back wins reinforce what the team is working on.

“It is nice to cement what we have been working on at training and to have some more consistency,” she said.

“We are gelling more on the court and learning more about how we all play.

“Our shooters have been gaining more and more confidence too which has shown with their better percentages.”

Harriett Slorach and Sophie Flood returned to bolster Navarre’s side which missed the presence of captain Georgia McDermott.

Flood left her regular position as a defender to play in the centre, dominating during the match to be named best on court.

“The great thing about Sophie is how versatile she is,” Browne said.

“We can play her nearly anywhere and know she will compete strongly.”

The Grasshoppers will have a week off as the league breaks for interleague.

“It will be good to rest up,” Browne said.

“The self esteem and confidence of the group and myself as coach are on the rise so we hope to continue improving after the break.”
