Residents wore pink on Wednesday and walked 400 metres for the Classic, which raises money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
It was followed by a sausage sizzle lunch.
“Residents love being included in community events,” Eventide Homes volunteer coordinator Toni Williams said.
“It was amazing to see so many smiling faces and for so many people to be part of it.”
The Classic raised $230 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to volunteers for running the barbecue,” Eventide Homes chief executive officer Sue Blakey said.
“Residents enjoyed socialising after the walk.”
“It was awesome having so many people at Eventide Homes.”
Ms Williams said “the initiative to host our own event was inspired from the success of a new walking program, implemented by South West TAFE aged-care training students who are currently studying on site at Eventide Homes”.
The program has been designed for residents to enjoy outdoor activities by either walking, using a wheelchair or using walking aids.
Four specially planned walking routes are offered to residents for variety each walking session.
“The Classic has motivated more residents to consider joining the walking group,” Ms Williams said.
On Sunday the Mother’s Day Classic will be held in Stawell, which will also raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Mother’s Day Classic events are held around the country.
Mother’s Day Classic’s CEO Sharon Morris said “in the last 21 years the Mother’s Day Classic has raised more than $33.2 million for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
“For the last three years Stawell has played an enormous role in helping us reach that amazing figure.”
You can register for Stawell Mother’s Day Classic at the Stawell Library or on the Mothers Day Classic website.
