The cash injection, announced today by Western Victoria MP Jaala Pulford, will go towards constructing the first stage of the school’s masterplan. 

“Our students certainly deserve the best here in Stawell and this will help address some of the issues we have with buildings in the school,” Stawell Secondary College Principal Kevin O’Neil said. 

The funding will go towards the school’s auditorium, music, drama, home economics and science facilities. 

“We will be minimising disruption to leaning by the construction,” Ms Pulford said. 

“There is nothing more important for families in Stawell to know their kids have a bright future.”

The school approached the government for funding in 2016 to start construction on the school and to improve facilities. 

Stawell Secondary College was provided with initial funding for the masterplan in 2017, with work anticipated to begin in 2019. 

The funding for Stawell Secondary College is part of the Victorian Budget for 2018/19.

The state government will invest $180.8 million to build and upgrade 60 regional schools.

Across Western Victoria, $7.57 million will go towards building and upgrading schools.

“We’re upgrading schools right across Western Victoria to make sure they have the best classrooms and the best facilities,” Ms Pulford said.
