Greens leader Richard Di Natale has called for reforms to the existing laws on cannabis calling the country's approach to illicit drugs an "unmitigated disaster".
“If the bar is set too low, more people will push” for harder substances, Mr Broad said in Stawell.
“There is also the risk of people developing psychosis from using cannabis.”
Grampians Community Health said their second biggest substance abuse issue they see in the area, is the use of cannabis. The first is alcohol.
“I don’t support excessive use of alcohol,” Mr Broad said.
“I think sporting clubs and other community groups work well to get the message out to the community.”
