The first Navarre netball team was entered in the Lexton league in 1957, more than 60 years ago.
The Grasshoppers have had plenty of highlights in that time, reaching their first grand final in 1962. Some of the best moments have come in recent years, with four consecutive A Grade premierships in the Maryborough Castlemaine District league.
Club co-presidents Colleen Parry and Katrina Slorach have been working hard along with past players and members to organise the event.
“The thought behind it was wanting to recognise all the people who have made the club what it is today from the past 60 years,” Parry said.
“We will have an afternoon tea as a get together for any past players or people involved in the club.”
The original uniform from the 1962 team will be on display at the reunion.
Slorach said the get together will be a great opportunity to celebrate the “family culture” of the club.
“Four of the ladies in the original team have had their granddaughters play for the club which is quite amazing,” she said.
“The club is a real family oriented one which I think is why it has thrived for more than 60 years.”
The reunion will begin at 2pm at the Navarre Football and Netball Complex.
