Early inaccuracy in the goal ring saw the Lions convert only four goals from 13 attempts in the first quarter before improving their conversion rates during the remaining three quarters to eventually finish the game 19 goals in front.
A tight Lions defense consisting of Tayla Lembo in goal defence and Amy Kindred as goal keeper made it difficult for Caramut to gain momentum and score. Lembo and Kindred were named as Great Western’s best.
The victory was a long time coming for Great Western, with the Lions having a hiatus in A Grade for the 2017 season.
It was a good day for Great Western’s netball program, with all but two teams having wins.
