Redbacks dominate Grasshoppers in A Grade contest

It was a tough start to the season for Navarre’s netballers on Saturday, with strong Carisbrook units running rampant in all senior divisions.

The Redbacks managed to keep all three of Navarre’s senior sides below scores of 10, with the A Grade team claiming the biggest win.

Carisbrook shot 59 to Navarre’s seven goals in trying conditions for the new-look Navarre side.

The Redbacks opened the game with a 17-2 first quarter and did not look back from there.

They continued to pile on the goals, limiting Navarre’s scoring opportunities and keeping them goalless in the third term.

The Redbacks shot at 63 per cent in the big 52-goal win.

New recruit Jacana Gordon and captain Georgia McDermott were best on court for the Grasshoppers in their roles in the defensive circle and mid-court respectively.

Navarre’s 15 and under side was the only netball team to win on the day. They fought hard to record a 23-18 victory away from home.
