The Fit for Business workshops are part of the council’s ‘Revitalise! Project’, which is aimed at developing a retail and small business ‘revitalisation and reactivation plan’ for Stawell and St Arnaud.
Northern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Cr Tony Driscoll said the ‘Revitalise! project’ would be the council’s key tool in assisting local businesses to navigate a rapidly-changing retail landscape.
“Right across the retail industry, we’re aware that there are some major changes taking place, and Council is committed to ensuring that our local businesses stay ahead of the pack when it comes to these developments,” Cr Driscoll said.
The Retail Doctor has worked with over 400 businesses including start-ups, national and global omni-channel retailers, retail service providers, shopping centres and not-for-profit organisations.
Some of their clients have been The Athlete’s Foot, Optus, Westfield, KFC and Woolworths.
Retail Doctor CEO Brian Walker’s sessions are going to focus on identifying key gaps, barriers and opportunities within the local business sector and to work with retailers to improve key skills for practice.
Mr Walker will also work with businesses to contribute to future retail planning, as well as assisting with observations and insights regarding tenancy mix, retail and customer experience strategies.
“A healthy and positive business community is key to the ongoing viability of our region, and that’s why we’re working hard to strengthen the future of our businesses,” said Cr Driscoll.
Cr Driscoll hopes the program will give business owners and their employees the tools they need to counter the shifts in the retail industry.
The Fit for Business Workshops will be held at:
● St Arnaud Town Hall’s community meeting room, on April 18 from 6 to 9 pm.
● Stawell Entertainment Centre’s foyer, on April 19 from 6 to 9 pm.
