CFA District 16 operations manager Bernie Fradd said the cause of the fire, which burned 10 acres of private land, was still unknown.
“We had units from Stawell, Halls Gap, Great Western, Pomonal, Ararat, Joel Joel, Moyston and Glenorchy on scene, about 50 firefighters,” he said.
“Brigades were still there as of midday Thursday. Some brigades were released on Thursday morning. Stawell is still on site.
“The fire was in some fairly difficult country. We had a bulldozer for control lines and some of the dangerous trees. Police and CFA investigators are looking into the fire.”
Mr Fradd said the fire mainly affected farmland near Moller and Pipetrack roads.
“Hopefully the weather will help with blacking out,” he said.
“The big problem this morning was that it was very windy, which made the fire difficult to control in its early stages.”
Mr Fradd said there was still a lot of fuel around the region and stretches of hot weather could dry it out and increase the risk of bushfires.
