Meera Jose moved from India to Melbourne to complete her education in 2013.
She then moved to Stawell six months later for her first job in Australia.
”I am very happy to become an Australian citizen,” she said.
“It was a special moment when I received the Australian citizenship.”
The registered nurse formerly at Eventide Homes and now at Stawell Regional Health said she appreciated the way of life in smaller rural communities.
“It is a calmer and quieter way of life here in this community,” she said.
“The people here are very nice. I don’t have any plans to move away.”
Marlon Resbo has been contacted for comment.
