On Monday, volunteers helped an injured hiker on Mackeys Peak Track get back down.
Stawell SES duty officer Jenny Rooke said the pair of visitors from Queensland got into trouble when the female hiker slipped and injured her ankle.
“It wasn’t a break, just a bad sprain,” she said.
“They went up the Pinnacle and it’s easy to come down the wrong track.
“We were about 600 metres from the bottom when we found them.”
Ms Rooke said the hikers were able to use their phones to guide the SES to their location.
“They didn’t know for sure which track they were on but they sent us some screenshots and we worked it out.”
The SES was called out again on Wednesday to the Pinnacle Track above Cool Chambers, assisting Ambulance Victoria and police with an injured hiker.
“A big thank you to the Uni students who helped us carry the Paraguard stretcher back up to the 4WD ambulance and our vehicles,” Stawell SES posted on Facebook.
“Remember to stay safe when hiking by always staying on track and letting someone know your plans.”
