Stawell and District Angling Club will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday, November 18 at Lake Fyans.
The club will conduct a free competition and barbecue open to the public with people invited to come and try their luck.
Stawell and District Angling Club president Ray Howard said it is a special milestone to have reached.
“There aren’t a lot of clubs which reach 50, so to last this long has been a good landmark,” he said.
“I think it has succeeded for so long because fishing is a hobby the whole family can get involved with and it is a great social activity too.”
Last weekend’s angling competition saw Gavin Keilor reel in five redfin with an aggregate length of 191.5 centimetre to take the win. Keilor also reeled in the longest fish, with a 45cm redfin.
Wyatt Blake again showed his angling ability with a plump 38.5cm to win the juniors. The next event will be the anniversary, with registrations and inquiries to be made with the club on 0476 279 758.
