Buangor clinched victory in a close affair against Willaura on Saturday.
The home-side’s top order struggled, relying on the middle order to pick up the pieces following a collapse.
Naish McRoberts and Sam Cronin steadied the ship, hitting scores of 24 and 33 respectively.
Nick Dunford added a handy 21 to give Buangor a chance with a score of 108.
We dropped our heads a bit early on even when we were bowling well
- Josh Byron
Ryan Townsend was the pick of Willaura’s bowlers, claiming three wickets.
Willaura vice-captain Josh Byron said Townsend’s consistency was crucial to his success.
“He bowled good line and length which was exactly what we needed,” he said.
Willaura was unable to capitalise on its good bowling performance, reaching a total of 94 before being bowled out.
Opening batsman Will Pederson scored 38 while Byron hit 21, but there was not enough contribution from the rest of Willaura’s batters.
Byron said his side learnt a lot from the close loss.
“One of our main lessons was to stay motivated throughout the game,” he said.
“We dropped our heads a bit early on even when we were bowling well.”
