Two Grampians Cricket Association A Grade matches have been forced to change venues just one day out from the season getting underway on Saturday.
The Swifts/Great Western and Buangor game has been shifted to Buangor as Great Western Recreation Reserve is still undergoing pitch works.
A new pitch was meant to be put in before the start of the season but has been delayed, forcing the game to move.
Youth Club and Tatyoon’s game at North Park has also been moved due to excess rain during the week.
The game will now be played at Moyston.
Grampians Cricket Association president David Turner said it is unfortunate the games had to be moved but he is happy they were able to find a solution.
“It is a bit annoying but there is not much we can do,” he said.
“We are hoping for some good weather to start the season.”
Just three of a possible five games will be played in the B Grade competition on Saturday, after Pomonal and Buangor both forfeited their matches.
“At this time of the year with footy trips and people busy we expect a couple of teams to struggle with numbers,” Turner said.
“I think the clubs that have both A and B Grade teams will be the ones most affected.”
Both the A Grade and B Grade season will kick off with one-day games on Saturday, October 14 at 1pm.
