The Baggies had five teams qualify for finals, with one team progressing through to the grand final.
Swifts president Steve Hoffman said it has been a great year for the club.
“It has been a very positive year for the club in a whole range of areas,” he said.
For the netballers, the highlight of the season was the successful return of the Baggies into the A Grade competition following a hiatus during 2016. The A Grade team was able to win four games in a promising first season back at the top flight.
Swifts’ footballers also had a year to remember, with the reserves side moving from second last in 2016 to fourth this year and the seniors jumping from eighth to third.
Swifts president Steve Hoffman said there were great off field achievements made this season as well.
“We kept our involvement going for the all abilities football as well as playing in our annual Indigenous round game again,” he said.
“We are also in the process of looking to have our facilities upgraded. Daffy is working very hard to make that happen.
“Also having the under 17 and senior football best and fairest winners is an incredible achievement and I am so proud of Josh (Davis) and Scott (Carey).”
Hoffman said the success of the club comes down to the commitment and dedication of a range of people.
“I would like to take time to thank all of the committee members for the year and although we may only have one team in the grand final but the club is on the way up. Thanks to all of our volunteers who have put in their own time over the year. The club would not survive without them,” he said.
“Also thanks to our sponsors. Without your kind generosity and financial support we would not be able to be as successful as we have been over the 2017 season. Special thanks goes to Tom and Carol Hedges of CKS Engineering for stepping up and being major sponsor for the 2017 season. Hope to see you about in the 2018 season.
“Other sponsors the club would like to thank are Carey Covers, Gift Hotel, Frew Group, DDH1, and Indigenous Prospects, just to name a few.”
“Good luck Tim and the under-17 boys on Saturday, let us bring the cup back to Stawell.
“Go Baggies!”
