Ben Northeast was unloading items into his new Walker Street house on Sunday morning, September 3 about 10.30.
He was inside for 15 minutes and when he returned outside his 75 inch colour television and four crates of personally signed vinyl albums were gone.
One of the albums was signed by world renowned American singer-songwriter Johnny Cash.
He said the television and vinyl albums were valued at $19,000, but would only receive $3000 from insurance.
But Mr Northeast now has the valuable items in his possession.
He said a man responsible for getting rid of any rubbish from the property after it had sold drove past and collected the items.
“He just grabbed them because he thought it was hard rubbish to be taken away,” Mr Northeast said.
“After he read the first article about the missing items he brought them to me- he had them at his place and was about to take them to the tip.”
Mr Northeast, a new Stawell resident who moved from Geelong, thanked the community for their support.
“I am very thankful to this community for their support, luckily there was no harm done at the end of this all,” he said.
