WATCH: The Red-bellied black snakes are common in Western Victoria.
SNAKES have already started to become active across the Wimmera, ahead of their usual spring season arrival.
Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning senior scientist Nick Clemann said warmer weather last week caused some snakes to venture out from their winter hibernation.
“People might be surprised to see snakes out this early in the year, but it’s not uncommon for them to be seen in August,” he said.
“Even before spring, snakes will be emerging.”
