RMIT University professional ethics lecturer Gordon Young will present two sessions focusing on professional ethics standards and how they relate to volunteers and volunteer leaders.
The standards offer protection against risks associated with volunteering and a framework for how to effectively help others.
The workshops on Thursday and Friday will focus on current best-practice standards and how they apply volunteering.
Stawell’s Neighbourhood House will host the Thursday workshop from 1.30pm to 3pm, while Horsham’s Centre Participation will host a session the following day from 10.30am to noon.
Organisers said the events were free and open to anyone who worked with volunteers.
They said people could register by emailing info@centreforparticipation.org.au.
A Horsham volunteer co-ordinator and managers meeting will follow the Horsham workshop from noon to 1pm.
