For more than 30 years, the Stawell Performing Arts Company had been looking for a place to “put down roots and call home”.
Last year, that dream began to become closer to a reality, thanks to the Stawell City Brass Band.
Band members were look for assistance to maintain their hall and to build their membership.
So a special collaboration was formed to boost performing arts within the Stawell community.
Together, the performing arts company and the band have developed the Stawell Band Hall Working Group – a partnership between the committees to provide ongoing collaboration and leadership in the performing arts in Stawell.
The working group has identified a number of projects that require ongoing financial support to maintain the hall at the corner of Wakeham and Sloan streets, and to create a safe and user-friendly place for the community to enjoy the performing arts.
To help meet the financial costs, the working group will soon begin fundraising heavily.
And now the group is calling on local individuals and businesses to support the work of the collaborative committee.
During July the group will undertake a baking drive with the help of local businesswoman Nancy Gibson, owner of Scrumlicious.
Mrs Gibson has offered her culinary skills for a quiche and slice drive, with profits going directly back to the working group.
Scrumlicious is a local Concongella business, catering for the sensitive dietary requirements of the region with award-winning taste that everyone can enjoy.
With products available in boutique cafes, restaurants and selected IGA stores, this drive will make Mrs Gibson’s gluten-free, dairy-free bakery items available to the general community for a short time.
To place an order, please contact a member of the Stawell Performing Arts Company, or the Stawell City Brass Band.
If you have any questions, please contact Scrumlicious on 0409 597878, or Deb Armstrong on 0417 393559.
