Ararat Rural City Council has received funding from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to host a forum on maintaining sports grounds in climate change conditions.
The forum is supported by Parks and Leisure Australia and will help improve grounds struggling through drought.
Volunteers who look after sports grounds in the region can learn to reduce the time and resources needed for the best ground results.
The forum will cover important topics such as ground and wicket preparation, turf management, water usage and surface-related sports injuries.
The event includes presenters with specialist knowledge in the field, including Federation University Professor Dara Twomey, SportsEng consultant Gray Canning and G&M Connellan Consulting’s Geoff Connellan.
The forum will be host at Alexandra Oval Community Centre, from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday.
Attendance at the event is free and includes a resource pack.
