A PRISONER has suffered minor injuries following an attempted stabbing by another detainee at Ararat’s Hopkins Correctional Centre on Monday morning.
He was scratched with a sharp instrument and was treated on site before 9am.
Justice Department spokesman Michael Gleeson said the prisoner’s injuries were not serious and did not require hospital treatment.
“It was explained to me as a scratch – a sharp instrument was used and he is lucky,” he said.
“He has been able to continue on his regular duties and there won’t be any need for him to be taken off-site.”
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said a crew responded to a report of someone with an upper body injury.
