Organiser Murray Hart said despite entries having come in slowly in the week leading in it was the biggest of the season.
“We were a bit concerned early on but then all the entries came in late,” he said.
“We’re a bit different to the other tournaments in that we leave entries open a bit longer and do the draw the night before.”
In the end there was 87 entries in the tournament, a number Hart said was 12 or 14 up on when Stawell held the tournament last season.
“It was really great to see so many juniors down there on the courts,” he said.
“Winners on the day were shared out among players from different clubs.
“There was also plenty of parents supporting their children around the courts which is something that has maybe been missing in the past, so that was good as well.”
At the end of the tournament aggregate medals were also handed out to those that had regular success during season’s four tournaments at Horsham Lawn, Haven, Central Park and Stawell.
Wimmera Regional Tennis coordinator Marita Punchard said she was happy with how the season had gone.
“Overall the season went reasonably well,” she said.
“The number of juniors playing always fluctuates a little bit from season to season.”
