Three Stawell Secondary College students have returned home after completing an exchange program in Germany.
After spending 10 weeks in a “winter wonderland”, Julia Clugston, Elissa Jess and Riley Hackwill returned to Stawell on January 28.
“It was like a big heatwave when we got back after living around so much snow for so long,” Ms Jess said.
“Julia and I are studying German this year so we wanted to get a better vocabulary, get experience and be brave,” she said.
The students stayed with host families in northern Bavaria, Munich and Regensburg.
Mr Hackwill said the natives were incredibly friendly.
“The people were really great and were really welcoming when we first got there,” he said. Julia Clugston said the whole trip was a highlight. “All 10 weeks were amazing,” she said.
“We lived a normal life and had to contribute to the household such as doing jobs and chores and going to school, so it was like living a normal lifestyle, just in another place.”
