Stawell West Primary’s preps walked through the school gates for the first time on Thursday morning.
Prep teacher Miranda Fortune said it was an exciting time for the school community.
“They have all settled in really well, it is important to teach them the school routines straight away and they all seem pretty engaged,” she said.
School principal Jim O’Brien said the main focus for the pupils was reading, writing, maths and their well-being.
“It is important to ensure they are supported and happy,” he said.
“They seem really enthusiastic to learn and a lot of them come from new families in the area which is always something we welcome.”
