A new year 7 learning hub at Stawell Secondary will aim to help make the students’ transition from primary to secondary an easier one.
The upgraded facility hosted year 7s, 8s and 9s together in the past, but this year will be the first where the space will only be used by year 7s.
Assistant principal Murray Hart said the hub aimed to give students a sense of ownership and belonging as they embarked on a new schooling chapter.
“The transition from primary to secondary is not easy but the hub tries to break down that barrier and offer them a comfortable learning space,” he said.
Year 7 student Grace Hopwood said she felt a mixture of nerves and excitement ahead of her entrance into secondary education.
“The new learning hub looks really great and looks much more modern than my primary school,” she said.
Year 7 Kiri Artz said the learning hub would present a comfortable learning environment.
“I like it, I think I will feel more comfortable around people that I mostly know,” she said.
