The application was lodged on April 29 and proposes construction of a 10-hectare greenhouse in the first stage to produce fruits and vegetables on the corner of Leviathan and Landsborough roads, three kilometres east of the Stawell town centre.
Proposed further stages of the project will see the facility grow to approximately 40 hectares.
Mayor Murray Emerson said the application was now open for public submissions.
“As exciting as this project is for our municipality and for council, the application must go through the same stringent process as every other planning application we receive,” Cr Emerson said.
The application is available to be viewed by the public on the Northern Grampians Shire Council website at www.ngshire.vic.gov.au or in hard copy at council’s customer service centres in Stawell and St Arnaud.
Anyone wishing to make a submission or comment on the application can do so up until Friday, June 3.
Cr Emerson said the shiure would also be referring the application to state departments for comment during the exhibition period, as well as assessing the application against the Northern Grampians Planning Scheme.
Nectar Farms will hold a drop-in information session on Wednesday, May 18 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at council’s Western Highway office.
