Cool and blustery conditions greeted combatants, and Blizzard’s semi was forced to wait at the starting line as the television broadcast had its commercial break.
But it did little to faze the Ararat product – now based in Canberra – as she soared home off a handicap of 7.5 metres in a time of 13.81.
It was the second-quickest winning time on Monday, and she will enter the women’s final at 2.12pm confident she can finally break through in the footrace.
“It would mean everything,” she said.
“I’ve wanted it so bad, especially the past few years. It means even more now. I’d love to win it.”
Blizzard said the semi-final race took her mind off the ultimate goal.
“It’s tough,” she said. “It was good to get another run through the legs.”
Blizzard will keep herself warm and recieve a well-earned rub down in the lead-up to the afternoon’s final.
“It’s cooled down a bit so I’ll get some treatment and try to get ready for it,” she said.
“In the final you always run fastest, so we’ll see what I can do. I’ve defnitely got some left in the tank.”
Joining Blizzard in the women’s final will be Kate Jones, Elly Graft, Jessica Payne, Tierra Exum and Talia Martin.
