The staff members decided to conduct a cupcake fundraiser to raise funds for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and were overwhelmed by the response.
The employees made cupcakes featuring faces of animals, took photographs of them and took them to businesses to take orders.
Shire staff member, Carlee Vokes said the response from businesses and individuals was overwhelming.
"I couldn't believe how many orders we received," Ms Vokes said.
"We ended up making $623 to support the work that the RSPCA does for the prevention of cruelty to animals. We were blown away by the support."
Due to the success of the inaugural cupcake fundraiser, which saw in excess of 300 cupcakes sold, Ms Vokes said the staff members would consider making it a regular event.
Ms Vokes said staff were grateful to Green Eggs of Great Western for the donation of free range eggs for the fundraiser, Northern Grampians Shire Council for the use of the kitchen facilities and businesses and the general public for their support.
