Northern Grampians Shire Council Leisure and Recreation Coordinator Marc Brilliant said a range of classes and after school programs were available to cater for all ages.
"The programs have proved extremely popular over the winter months and we now have multiple instructors in the water at one time to meet the demand," he said.
"With term four programs set to commence on October 8, families are invited to register their interest for Water Familiarisation, 'Active' after school classes and private swimming lessons."
The Water Familiarisation program offers classes for children aged between six months and five years. Thirty minute sessions are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings between 8.30am and 11.30am.
"The program is an ideal way to introduce children to water and teaches them how to float, blow bubbles and move in shallow depths," Mr Brilliant said.
"Water Familiarisation is a great stepping stone to Swim and Survive as it gives participants a head start when it comes time to learn how to swim."
'Active' after school classes for children aged five to 18 years are held at the Leisure Complex between 3pm and 6pm on weekdays and 8.30am and 11.30am on Saturdays.
Mr Brilliant said the classes ran for 30 minutes and allowed children to learn new strokes as they progressed.
"All Stawell Leisure Complex aquatic programs have a major emphasis on water safety and allow children to learn at their own pace," he said.
Private swimming lessons are another option to improve stroke technique. Sessions are offered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays for anyone aged five years and above.
Mr Brilliant said times were negotiated between the instructor and families for convenience and could be booked for 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
"One-on-one private lessons are perfect for learning one stroke, correcting technique or speeding up the learning process," he said.
"All of our instructors are Austswim qualified and can tailor the sessions to suit the participants' aquatic needs."
