STAWELL - The Victorian Coalition Government has delivered a major safety boost at Colquhoun Street in Stawell with the completion of essential railway bridge maintenance works.

Minister for Public Transport, Terry Mulder said the works had ensured sustainable use of the bridge into the future.
"The repair works have added many years to the life of this bridge," he said.
Mr Mulder said the $200,000 safety works, managed by VicTrack, included installation of new galvanised steel guard rails and structural members, protection and painting of steel work, asphalt seal works and general repair works.
"The old timber guard rails were splitting and rotting," he said.
"They have been replaced with galvanised steel guard rails that will last for at least 30 years.
"Repair works at the Colquhoun Street rail bridge have delivered significant safety improvements for road users."
Member for Western Victoria Simon Ramsay welcomed the safety upgrade.
"The completion of the Colquhoun street bridge is another demonstration of the Baillieu Government's commitment to upgrading vital road connections in rural Victoria," Mr Ramsay said.
The works were completed on time and on budget.
VicTrack engaged experienced engineering firm, DC Projects Pty Ltd, to carry out the essential maintenance works. VicTrack also received support from the Northern Grampians Shire Council.
The works were funded under VicTrack's Bridge Renewal Program.
