The prayer service is being held from 5.30pm, as part of the national day of mourning for those passengers killed in the Malaysian Airlines MH17 air disaster.
Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine in July, killing all 298 people on board, including 38 Australian citizens and residents.
Reverend Anne McKenna will be leading the prayer service on Thursday and said she welcomed Stawell and district residents to attend.
"The repercussions of such a tragedy reach wide and far in communities and it is important that people have a way of expressing their sorrow," Rev. McKenna said.
"Often there is a sense of helplessness towards the families of the victims and yet a great sense of needing to reach out and support those involved.
"Coming together allows all residents to demonstrate support and care as well as endorsing our own awareness of goodwill in a world which appears to be spiralling out of control."
Holy Trinity Anglican Church invites all members of the Stawell and district community to join in the memorial prayer service for the MH17 disaster, this Thursday at 5.30pm.
