Grampians Community Health and Stawell Regional Health launched the lifestyle program, which is a prevention campaign urging all Australians to see if they are at risk of Type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed in up to 58 percent of cases through early detection and lifestyle modification.
During National Diabetes Week, members of the community were provided with information about the condition and how to prevent it.
Shop 108 in Main Street was filled with information and displays, allowing the public to learn more about diabetes and to see if they are at risk of Type 2 diabetes.
The campaign also featured the personal stories of people who have prevented and who are living with Type 2 diabetes.
The new lifestyles program conducted by Grampians Community Health and Stawell Regional Health is designed for people who need motivation to get their lifestyle back on track.
Members of the public will attend a private 45 minute introductory session before the group program.
Participants will be encouraged to set individual lifestyle goals with the support of the health professionals. Each session, health professionals will offer a practical workshop with a focus on food choices and prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
To take part in this free program, residents to not need a referral.
