Top Stories: 

- Ray Graham is the new president of the Lions Club of Stawell.

He took over the leadership position from retiring president Scott Fletcher.

Other office bearers inducted were, vice president, Malcolm Hooper, secretary Iain Maclean and treasurer Gary Withers.

- Halls Gap Tourism has dispersed funds which were raised at its Halls Gap Cup race meeting earlier this year to local fire heroes.

The tourism body donated $1,000 to the Pomonal Country Fire Authority and $1,000 to the Stawell State Emergency Service in appreciation for their efforts during last summer's Black Range and Grampians bushfires.

Halls Gap Tourism also donated $700 to the local Wildlife Disaster Response Team.

- Navarre Grasshoppers have surprised themselves and all who witnessed their thrashing of Newstead in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League.

There was much anticipation leading into the match with a close game expected.
