The cup will arrive in Stawell on Wednesday, October 22 as it makes its way across Australia and New Zealand to enable locals to experience first-hand the magic and history of the cup ahead of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Stawell Racing Club operations manager, Penny Penfold, said the town was delighted to find out they will host the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour this year.
"The Emirates Melbourne Cup visit provides the opportunity for Stawell and surrounding communities to celebrate this proud icon of Australian history, while drawing attention to local landmarks, including our many historic attractions in the renowned Grampians region," Ms Penfold said.
"What a great opportunity this is for Stawell to showcase our locals and proud racing culture."
This visit to Stawell will be a first for the Cup, with champion horse Subzero in attendance.
The $175,000, 18-carat gold Emirates Melbourne Cup will commence its three and a half month tour in July accompanied by Melbourne Cup veterans and racing legends who will share their personal stories with locals throughout the tour.
