With having the interleague break and time to freshen up on their side, coaches Ben Martin and Paul Hanns have high expectations this week.
"We want to kick a big score, but we want to play a defensive game as well," Martin said.
"There might be times where we push a couple back in order to stop them from scoring, then hope to score ourselves on the rebound."
Taylors Lake have had a rough start to the season and look to have limited depth in their line up.
Playing coach Deek Roberts, will lead his team after a strong performance at interleague level last weekend.
Jason Kannar will take control of the Swifts power forwards while Patrick Purcell will have a job to do through the middle if Taylors Lake are going to have a chance.
Martin thinks the game will be won out of the middle and ensured the midfielders for Swifts would have to be at their best.
"Their strength is definitely in their mids," Martin said.
"They not only win the football, but they kick goals week in and week out.
"Our boys will certainly need to be on their toes and keep a close watch on their direct opponent."
The next month of football on paper looks seemingly easy for Swifts, but the coaching staff have guaranteed it won't be any walk in the park.
"The next month is no cruise, as we keep reminding the players," Martin said.
"You have to do the hard yards now for the success to come down the track."
The hard yards for the Swifts will include a training program similar to that of preseason and the expectation of committing to training twice a week.
Last week some Swifts players missed training sessions without an apology and that didn't sit well with Martin.
"There were a couple of players who decided they would have the week off," Martin said.
"So we called them all in for a meeting and just redirected them a little bit.
"It was also a good opportunity to set some more team goals and make sure we are still moving forward."
Jake Goodes, Aaron Chavasse and Josh Newton will all make their return to the senior line up this week with Luke Mitchell and Julian Carr again unavailable.
