Having had less than 100 drives, Hargreaves was nominated to participate in the series and jumped at the opportunity.
"It was a three race series over three different meetings," Hargreaves said.
The three races were held at Bendigo, Maryborough and finished at Tabcorp Park, Melton.
Hargreaves went into the final round of the series just one point behind the leader, so a win was a must at Melton.
Hargreaves had Baccarat three back, but they charged home along the sprint lane to claim victory, producing an impressive mile rate of 2:00.1.
With her win at Melton and two third placings at Bendigo and Maryborough, Hargreaves finished with 27 points to top the leader board.
"I've only driven one race here (Melton) before and to win here is fantastic," Kate said.
At 22 years of age, Hargreaves is still at University where she is studying to become a teacher, but loves coming home to help out.
"I help Kerryn Manning out on weekends and dad," Hargreaves said.
"It's good for a bit of extra cash, but it's also fun."
Hargreaves' father Jeff has long been involved with horses and she continues to follow in his footsteps.
"It's not a living for me though, it is just a hobby," she said.
Hargreaves thanked the Bendigo Harness Racing Centre and Harness Racing Training Centre for giving her and the other young drivers the chance to drive in the series and especially at Tabcorp Park.
