Stawell has been without a ticket office since November 2011 when the office at the station closed down.
Travellers on the Ballarat/Melbourne route have been forced to buy their tickets from Ararat ever since the closure, while others have had to purchase theirs from the bus driver.
VLine has struggled in the past to find someone to open the ticketing office at Stawell Station and resorted to finding an existing business to sell tickets.
The company approached David, owner of Roswin Milk Bar, to assist.
"We are the closest business to the station that is open a lot," David said.
"So they came and asked and we said 'why not?' It's only a little bit of extra work."
The staff at Roswin have had one week of training on the computer and the ticketing system is now up and running.
"This is not only good for my business, but for the general public who can now buy tickets in Stawell and don't have to go to Ararat," David said.
Roswin Milk Bar is located at 3 Main Street, near the corner of Main and Frayne Streets.
