Society Secretary Rhonda Holz said the Langi Morgala Museum have twenty well preserved outfits dating back 100 years, but due to their fragility and being too small for the models, they unfortunately cannot be used.

However, the museum committee has decided to have a display of  60s, 70s, and 80s fashions which fitted in with the theme “Remember When, Fashion Parade”.

There will be wedding gowns, mini skirts, leather coats, hippy gear, fur coats, office wear and much more modelled by three secondary school girls.

The local op shops have been very proactive in sourcing outfits for society.

“A number of local women have given us boxes of clothing which they have had in storage for over fifty years, not knowing what to do with them,” Mrs Holz said.

She said as Ararat was known for its textile gallery, the museum thought it appropriate that they too should house some textile articles from this era.

The fashion parade will take place at the museum on Sunday 12th October at 2 pm with tickets at $20 each available from the museum.

Attendees are invited to dress up in their favourite retro gear.

The museum is open Tuesday and Thursday 10am to 3pm and Saturday 1pm to 4pm.
