Program delivers faster, better connectivity
EIGHT of the ten mobile and broadband projects earmarked for Pyrenees Shire are now completed under the Victorian Government’s Connecting Victoria program.
The program is delivering deliver 1,300 mobile and broadband projects, with more than 900 in regional Victoria.
Seven new mobile telecommunications towers have been erected around the Pyrenees Shire at Amphitheatre, Landsborough, Landsborough West, Lexton, Mena Park Moonambel and Snake Valley.
A new NBN broadband tower is also operational in Beaufort with two further NBN towers at Lexton and Waterloo currently under construction.
While the Commonwealth is responsible for telecommunications services in Australia, the Connecting Victoria program continues to invest in mobile and internet infrastructure to address connectivity gaps in regional communities.
Minister for Government Services Natalie Hutchins said reliable mobile and internet coverage is essential for communities to access emergency services and check on family during emergencies.
