Job Summary

AECOM’s Resources and Industrial team has opportunities for Senior Mechanical Engineers to

work across all project phases, from studies through to detailed engineering and execution, working predominately across mining, industrial and National Government (particularly Defence) projects.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Resources & Industrial team, you will typically provide detailed engineering design and engineering services for mining & heavy industry companies in areas such as crushing, screening, bulk materials handling, pumping & piping networks, tailings and water facilities, bulk fuels and hydrocarbons storage and distribution including tanks, pressure vessels, pipe stress analysis etc.

This is a fantastic and diverse engineering consulting role that will influence outcomes with our clients across the areas of mining, industrial, Defence, and bulk fuel storage of liquid hydrocarbon fuels.

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or similar;

  • Proven professional experience in mechanical engineering within a consulting, client or advisory environment;

  • Broad based skillset and experience across mechanical engineering which may include mining or heavy industrial applications, bulk fuel and hydrocarbon storage, distribution and offloading facilities.

  • Passionate, driven and a team player with clear vision for your own personal development, growth and career progression;

  • Proven ability to coordinate projects and teams of engineers, with other disciplines, to produce project deliverables to agreed deadlines and standards;

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, and the ability to develop a strong client base

  • Highly confident knowledge in, and project exposure to, Australian Standards within Mining and Industrial operations including mining infrastructure, material handling or other heavy industry aspects;

  • Capability of working closely with graduates and junior professionals to provide mentoring or career development guidance;

  • Knowledge or exposure to study phases, frameworks and procedures across the project lifecycle (initiation to execution).

  • Strong ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders and drive projects.

Applicants with experience across bulk fuel installations, with the ability to provide fuel infrastructure advisory services are also strongly encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership and professional accreditation to Engineers Australia with an aim to achieve Chartered Engineering status (CPEng) and RPEQ;

  • Experience in developing engineering designs within defence and hazardous areas.

  • Strong industry networks with the ability to generate new leads;

  • Bulk Fuel Engineering Design Experience for Defence, Aviation and Maritime and associated baseline or above Defence clearance
