Job Summary

AECOM Resources and Industrial Team in Adelaide are looking for a Principal Study Lead to lead client-side projects across our diverse portfolio of major projects in Mining, Resources and Industrial sectors, working alongside major Mining clients and National/State Government.

Suitable candidates can expect to:

  • Lead client-side multi-disciplinary projects as a Study Manager, as well as contributing to the sales, profitability and management of work and people.

  • Deliver to agreed cost and schedule

  • Regularly liaise closely with clients, with a strong focus in business development and bidding and winning work and be responsible for identifying opportunities and assisting in expanding business opportunities for AECOM.

  • Be familiar with key clients systems and processes including delivering study packages.

  • Provide leadership to professional and technical staff on complex projects that deliver high standard outcomes for AECOM

  • Supervise and/or lead project teams while providing mentoring and career development for team members

  • Drive the achievement of project program and AECOM profit objectives. Review project reporting, billing and the submission of variations and develop appropriate responses in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements

This is a concept-completion Principal Study Lead role with pipeline across varied project sectors, including Mining, Resources, Industrial and bulk fuels, with a future opportunity to work across a diverse range of other market sectors.

This is an opportunity to partner with our clients in major project delivery and operate in a diverse role, which will generally require the Study Lead to have some or all the following capability:

  • Relevant qualifications in Project Management or Engineering;

  • Demonstrable senior experience as a study manager within a consulting or client-side project management role across mining, heavy industrial and/or bulk fuels;

  • Capable and confident approach to advising and describing around different project procurement and delivery approaches;

  • Prior exposure to managing risk, design team management, feasibility studies and project management, commissioning and handover management;

  • Able to form strong bonds with clients to build long lasting relationships, generating positive feedback and repeat work and/or expanded services;

  • Detailed understanding of study phase delivery with major Australian mining, industrial and/or fuel distribution companies and the ability to apply contract mechanics and practice, terms and conditions and associated legislation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership and professional accreditation of AIPM or equivalent, or working towards this;

  • CPEng accreditation, or approaching CPEng, highly advantageous.
