About the role

This permanent full-time role is based in Newport. The Finance Analyst role reports into the Commercial Finance Manager with a dotted line to the Senior Project Accountant and is responsible for the financial management of the profit & loss, forecasts and budgets, financial modelling and analysis. Business partner with the project team and Commercial Finance Manager in decision support, planning, operational performance management and formulation, implementation and execution of the business plan.

Working in a small down-to-earth team at the Newport office, you will sit within the Project Services team. You will have strong foundations in core accounting and have exposure to analysis such as managing profitability. Our client is open to industry experience and background.

Flexibility includes 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.

Snapshot of the role:

• Ensure the accuracy of all financial and management reports, providing value-add commentary and analysis
• Partner with project teams to ensure project cost sub-category allocations are accurately reflected both in the general ledger (JDE) and Project Dashboards
• Business partnering via preparation of operational and capital budgets and business plans; including full review and quarterly updates of project forecast and project dashboards
• Delivery of accurate financial forecasts in line with the deliverables calendar
• A continued focus on Project revenue recognition, project costs, invoicing, aged debtors, the aging of Work in Progress, project variations and margin management
• Ensure general compliance with accounting standards, tax laws regulations and all compliance reporting
• A continuous focus on commerciality with a view to maximise revenue and cost-out opportunities
• Development of financial and analytical models to support decision making

About you

You are CPA/CA qualified or partially qualified and have 5+ year's experience in a management accounting / financial analysis / project accounting with solid project experience. With a combination of solid core accounting skills with impeccable attention to detail and month-end diligence, you have modelling and business partnering experience where you can report, analyse and translate financial data into useful information. You are well versed in financial forecasts and budgets with exposure to costing.

You have experience in transport, manufacturing, industrial, production industries with solid project experience with a track record of delivering revenue and cost-out initiatives.
