Fire safety upgrade for Ararat College

ARARAT College will receive a massive upgrade to its fire safety system as part of the Victorian Government’s School Maintenance Program.

Acting Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll announced 30 more schools would share over $16 million to undertake maintenance projects.

The investment is part of the latest round of the Planned Maintenance Program – which provides funding to address high-priority maintenance issues across Victoria’s government schools.

Ararat College received $1.1 million to upgrade its hydraulic fire safety system.

Works are determined by a rolling facilities evaluation process, which provides up-to-date information on the condition of schools to create a faster and more targeted allocation of funding.

Member for Ripon Martha Haylett said the funding will ensure fire safety at Ararat College is a top priority.

“We are already upgrading Ararat College as part of a massive $4.6 million project. This additional funding will make the school even better, so that our rural students have the world-class learning environment they deserve,” she said.
