A spokesperson for Northern Grampians Crime Investigation Detectives issued the following report after burglary and false claims led to the arrests of three men in Ararat.

"Northern Grampians Crime Investigation Unit Detectives have charged three men following an alleged burglary at a service station in Ararat on Thursday, February 6.

"A 30-year-old Ararat man has been charged with burglary and making a false report to police.

"A 26-year-old man and a nineteen-year-old man, who are both also from Ararat, were charged with burglary and theft.

"The charges follow an alleged false report of an armed robbery, where two men forced another man to enter the premises and open the safe at about 3.30am," they said.

"The three men allegedly fled with cash, cigarettes and vouchers.

"Following further investigations by detectives, the trio were charged and bailed to appear at Ararat Magistrates Court on April 11, 2025."
